About the role
The Corporate Communications Specialist ensures all relevant activities and media opportunities are well managed and fully explored. The Specialist develops strong relationships to proactively source opportunities to support the core functions of TEQ and the Queensland tourism industry.
This position is temporary full time until 1 March 2019.
Duties
- Proactively source, research and write a variety of communication tools including: newsletters, corporate intranet and internet websites, media releases, speeches, briefing notes and other tools as requested
- Coordinate events, key announcement activity and respond to media enquiries
- Provide communications advice and briefings to key stakeholders as required
- Use a collaborative approach to oversee the effective liaison and communication engaging across all TEQ functions
- Be agile and responsive in engaging with internal and external stakeholders to assist in the development of and aligned with TEQ’s corporate objectives
Skills and experience
- Experience in researching and writing media releases, briefing documents, speeches, newsletters, online content and social media
- Experience in dealing with news media and responding to media inquiries
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in journalism or communication or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels of an organisation
- Very high attention to detail and a team player
