The Role
The Data Scientist (internally known as a Senior Customer Insights Analyst) is responsible for the data mining, knowledge discovery, analysis and reporting of customer, member, intermediary and employer data and information. You will use your expert analytical skills to provide customer intelligence and insightful analytics for strategic decision making.

As a skilled data professional and advanced analytical problem solver, you will develop frameworks to improve business operations. By developing new ways to apply insight, you will create new business opportunities and create actionable insight.

Reporting to the Manager - Customer Insights, you will liaise with stakeholders across various business units to gather and analyse business requirements and interrogate customer data using business intelligence (BI) tools. You will also create and maintain the customer propensity modelling for QSuper.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

The ideal Data Scientist will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (e.g. Economics, Mathematics, Business, Marketing) and/or relevant work experience
• Experience in interrogating large data sets for analytical purposes
• Strong working knowledge of customer databases and business intelligence systems and report generation skills
• Ability to analyse complex data and present findings in a commercial manner
• Previous exposure and working knowledge of statistical analysis/predictive modelling and experience using statistical tools/systems and Microsoft Excel
• Demonstrated experience in quantitative and qualitative research design, analysis, and reporting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate, build and maintain positive stakeholder relationships and facilitate effective communication within a team environment
• Demonstrated experience in providing guidance, support and coaching to other team members
• Demonstrated ability to add strategic insight to data/results and communicate this effectively
• Highly developed problem-solving skills and experience, with strong attention to detail
• A high degree of initiative and motivation
• Understanding of how to identify, assess and escalate risks according to the Risk Management framework.
