This role is part of the Bank’s Media Office team that has responsibility for management of relationships with the media, provision of communications services to the public and management of communication services to internal clients.
In this role you will:
- Ensure a timely and accurate contribution to the core functions of the Media Office.
- Advise on and execute external communications programs for Bank departments.
- Handle complex media and public enquiries that require extensive coordination with stakeholders
- Assess media coverage relevant to the Bank.
- Liaise with the media, general public and other organisations.
- Monitor and report media commentary of relevance to the Bank.
- Prepare senior staff for public engagement including proofreading speeches and tackling tricky media questions
- Contribute to the publication of information and media releases.
- Conduct media lock-ups and enforce proper conduct
- Assist in the development of internal communications content and publication.
To be successful in the role you must have
- Background in media and public relations, ideally with good exposure to working in or with the financial services industry or public service.
- You will be resilient, organised and have demonstrated strong practical judgement, particularly in managing complex, sensitive and confidential media and public enquiries.
- Strong written and oral communications skills and the ability to cultivate constructive professional relationships are essential.
A degree in economics, communications, media studies, or similar related field is desired as is a strong understanding of the RBA’s functions.
