We are seeking a Communication and/or Media scholar who is in touch with the digital milieu, 21st century thinking, and willing to be heavily involved in curriculum rejuvenation. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial, and show a willingness to experiment in their research and teaching. Candidates must also be able to evidence collaboration (in both teaching and research), an ability to create and sustain thriving relationships (internally and externally), and an appreciation for high-quality teaching and research relevant in the 21st century. Priority will be given to figures whose research and teaching embraces new and emerging themes, methods and areas of inquiry, e.g. critical infrastructure studies, digital field work, game studies, computer mediated communication, media archaeology (and other #trending #hashtags). The position is also open to early-career researchers and those whose approach includes a significant practice dimension. The position is within the School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing at Massey University (Auckland Campus). The School of Communication, Journalism and Marketing (CJM) is part of the Massey Business School. - have a Ph.D in Communication, Media Studies, Rhetoric or an equivalent field (or be within one year of completion)
- have a track record of publications and conference presentations and be able to evidence a promising research trajectory
- be willing to teach in the area(s) of communication and technological change, large, introductory courses, and other core courses such as Introduction to Business Communication
- be prepared to teach 3-4 courses per year (current teaching load in the school)
- be prepared to play an active service role in the life of the School.
