UCD College of Business consists of the UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business (‘the Quinn School’) focused on undergraduate education, the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business (‘the Smurfit School’), the UCD School of International Business Education, focused on overseas programmes and UCD Smurfit Executive Development. The Quinn School is located on the main campus at Belfield while the Smurfit School is located at Blackrock about five kilometers away. Academic staff teach across all schools.

About the Position

The appointee will be a member of faculty in the Marketing Subject Area within the UCD College of Business.  The appointee should be an internationally recognised scholar in the field of Marketing, with an impressive catalogue of publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals.  The appointee will also will also have a demonstrated ability to foster and deliver publications through collaboration with other academics and through mentoring younger researchers, whilst also being able to play a leadership role within the context of the broader Subject Area and the College as a whole.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the College's profile in teaching, research and innovation in Marketing.  The successful applicant will provide leadership in the following areas:

Research:  The Marketing Subject Area places strong emphasis on research leading to publication in highly-rated international peer-reviewed academic journals and on thought leadership in the fields of Marketing Strategy and International Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing and Analytics, Sales and Customer Relationship Management and Marketing in Society.

Members of faculty have published in and are active editorially in leading journals including:  Journal of Marketing, Strategic Management Journal, International Journal for Research in Marketing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Academy of Marketing Science, Psychology and Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Macromarketing.  Particular emphasis is placed on the ability to build upon and extend established research traditions within the Marketing Subject Area, and to work in collaborative research teams within and across disciplines, and across countries.

Teaching and Learning:  The Marketing subject group offers a wide range of course modules at all levels, including undergraduate and postgraduate, notably the Bachelor of Commerce, the MBA, MSc and PhD programmes.  In particular, the Marketing subject group runs a very large, international MSc programme with 250 students.  The Marketing group also contributes to a range of executive education courses and is actively involved in overseas programmes.

The appointee will be expected to contribute to and provide leadership in the development of the overall teaching portfolio in Marketing, at all levels, and to add value, especially in his/her own area of specialist interest.  This will involve curriculum development within existing programmes, and the development of innovative new programmes, courses and methods of delivery.

Strategic Planning:  In conjunction with the Dean of the College of Business, the Head of the Marketing subject area, and other colleagues, the successful applicant will be involved in the formulation and implementation of policies and plans to develop the academic and strategic potential of the College, at home and abroad.

Administration:  All academic staff share in the administrative and managerial duties of the subject area and the school.  Full Professors are expected to provide strong leadership in all aspects of management which are necessary for the successful functioning of the subject area and the business schools, and in fostering collegiality within the College.

Public Service:  Full Professors within the College of Business are expected to demonstrate thought leadership in the business community, and are encouraged to be actively involved in professional and business networks, in Ireland and internationally.

95 Full Professor Salary Scale: €110,060 - €139,501 per annum

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
