Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Haemostasis. Terms and conditions vacancy
Churchill Hospital, Oxford
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work on laboratory based fibrinolytic markers of acquired bleeding in settings such as traumatic coagulopathy and haematological malignancy. The postholder will develop and run a range of haemostasis assays including clot lysis assays, flow assays and the use of confocal microscopy. Although the position will be attached to the Nuffield Division of Clinical Laboratory of Sciences, Radcliffe Department of Medicine, the post will be based in the Oxford Haemophilia and Thrombosis Centre, Department of Haematology at the Churchill Hospital, with a small proportion of time at the University of Aberdeen within a haemostasis laboratory to learn laboratory techniques and continue an active collaboration.
The post is funded until 31 August 2018.
You will devise, co-ordinate and run the laboratory experiments evaluating fibrinolytic changes in trauma and haematological malignancy samples. You will assist in analysis of data from these studies, liaising closely at all times with research and clinical teams with Doctors Curry, Mutch, Stanworth to ensure smooth running of the studies.
You will have or be working towards completion of a PhD in haemostasis, or other relevant discipline. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong interest or past experience in the field of haemostasis, and will have a knowledge and understanding of research design, experimental methods and data analysis skills. Experience of fibrinolysis assays and advanced haemostasis techniques would be an advantage but is not an essential as training will be provided. The postholder will benefit from interaction and support across a range of clinical and research active units in Oxford.
For an informal discussion about the research and position, please contact Dr Nicola Curry or Dr Simon Stanworth on 01865 225316.
You will be required to upload a supporting statement explaining how you meet the selection criteria for the post, a CV, and details of two referees as part of your online application.
The position is available immediately.
