The School of Culture and Society, Aarhus University, invites applications for a permanent position as professor of Old Testament / Hebrew Bible Studies within the Department of Theology. The position is available from 1 August 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Place of employment: Jens Chr. Schous Vej 3-7, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.
The position The professorship is offered with a view to attracting a particularly talented person who is expected to play a key role in the continued creation of innovative, internationally recognised research. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to core activities at the School of Culture and Society in general and the study of the Old Testament / Hebrew Bible in particular in the following areas: research, education, talent development and knowledge exchange. The professor will also be expected to provide academic leadership relating to research, education and academic development as well as contributing actively to the further development of the department, both nationally and internationally.
Research The Department of Theology at Aarhus University has a pronounced and significant international profile and a strong research network. The successful applicant will be expected to take a leading role in developing the research programme with special emphasis on the Old Testament / Hebrew Bible in its historical, literary and theological context and to contribute to research initiatives in terms of new research projects with internal and external partners, including the attraction and administration of external research funding.
- Applicants must therefore be able to document academic qualifications at the highest international level within the field of Old Testament / Hebrew Bible research. It is of vital importance that the successful applicant takes part in the daily activities of the department.
