Location: University Park
Salary: £34,956 to £46,924 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
The Department of Architecture and Built Environment offers a full range of professional architecture and building services engineering programmes as well as innovative programmes that span the disciplines of architecture and environmental design. With a history extending back over 140 years, we are a leading centre for teaching and research in architecture, urban design, building services engineering and sustainable energy technologies. The Department is seeking a talented individual with an excellent understanding of how to shape the thermal, visual, acoustic, etc, environments in buildings and a proven ability to express principles and concepts through architectural design. In addition to delivering teaching through conventional lecture series, there is an expectation that small group teaching will be used to advance students' ability to integrate environmental strategies within architecture studio projects. The ability to reinforce teaching and research through the use of computer aided design and energy simulation skills is viewed as desirable. The Department values research informed teaching and the post provides time and space to identify and develop a research agenda that delivers excellence and maintains cutting edge in the delivery of taught programmes.
Applicants to this post should have a good honours degree or equivalent in an architecture, building technology, building services, building physics or other subjects allied to environmental design. In addition, candidates should have a PhD or significant industrial expertise in architecture related environmental design or similar subject. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, participate in assessing and examining students, supervise PhD students, perform high quality research and obtain external research grants.
