The School of Art wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Contemporary Art Theory. You will contribute primarily to the Visual Culture studies curriculum at all levels of the undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes in the School of Art. Specifically, you will be expected to take on course organising and seminar teaching duties for courses in Visual and Cultural Studies, to deliver general Visual Culture teaching elsewhere in undergraduate curriculum, as well as developing your own courses and/or programmes according to your specialism at honours and Master’s level. You will also be expected to supervise research students, and to undertake self-initiated research projects and develop funding applications that contribute to the overall teaching and research culture of the School of Art.
You will be educated to PhD level or equivalent in a relevant subject and possess sufficient breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established teaching and research programmes.
Preference will be given to candidates with specialisms in the following areas: feminisms, queer theory, futurity, parahumanities and intersection between art and science.
Applicants are required to evidence and demonstrate a proven track record of professional experience in Contemporary Art Theory and supported by exhibitions, publication, curation or other outcomes as well as development and delivery of teaching and learning programmes at HE level.
This is a full time (35 hours per week) and open ended post
