The University of Reading has successfully implemented the initial phase of its Global Engagement Strategy, delivering a step-change in recruitment, partnerships, curriculum and research development that supports its position as a global player.

You will act as part of the key front-line recruitment team representing the University of Reading in the Americas and South East Asia. This post is crucial to the University both in continuing to achieve its ambitious international student recruitment targets and in raising Reading’s brand and profile within the region.

You will work with the Senior Regional Manager to initiate, develop, evaluate and manage marketing strategies for the assigned countries ensuring that activities and expenditure maximise return on investment.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To take responsibility for key recruitment countries within the Americas, South East Asia and one European country, also provide support to the Senior Regional Manager for Americas, South East Asia and MENA (Middle East and North Africa).
  • To contribute, through direct recruitment in key markets, to the development and implementation of the University of Reading’s international student recruitment, and to a certain extent partnership, activities.
  • To have knowledge of at least one of the following markets will be important: Canada, Greece and Indonesia.
  • To identify opportunities to feed into market development strategies, and working with the Senior Regional Manager for Americas, South East Asia and MENA, identify new institutional links with universities, and manage relationships with recruitment partners and other organisations in the designated region.
  • To represent the University in these allocated markets through regular trips, working to an agreed schedule. Visits are likely to total around three-four months per year.
  • To be responsible for good Customer Relations Management in the region including all enquiries, lead management and follow-up activities following trips and inward visits using the University’s CRM system.
  • To support the Senior Regional Manager in key marketing communications including the use of social media and activities covering all of the Americas and South East Asia, leading and taking the initiative where appropriate.
  • To develop and maintain links with alumni in the designated region as appropriate and working with the alumni team to host in-country formal and informal alumni events.
  • To work closely with a number of selected schools and departments within the University to provide feedback on market trends and intelligence, programme development and provide regular briefings for school recruitment staff in the designated region.
  • Manage the assigned budgets for the designated region and/or countries.
  • To update and maintain internal and external guidance on the equivalencies of local qualifications and to assist Academic Schools and Admissions staff in applying this information consistently.
  • Work with the Senior Regional Manager to propose and bid for budgets for the assigned countries. Budget will be assigned by the Head of the Global Recruitment.
  • Undertake any other duties as appropriate and agreed with the Senior Regional Manager and the Head of Global Recruitment.
