The College wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Professor Clare Saunders and Dr. Joanie Willett on the Designing a Sensibility for Sustainable Clothing (S4S) Project. This 0.6575 FTE (24 hours per week) Arts and Humanities Research Council funded post is available from November 1st 2017 for 20 months. The successful applicant will have an interest in fashion and sustainability, as well as proven experience in practical or academic projects in related areas. She/he will organise project workshops, thematically code transcripts of naturally occurring conversations and interviews, organise auto-ethnographic qualitative films, conduct and analyse survey data, take wardrobe audits and collate entries to fashion diaries. She/he will also help to maintain the project website and social media feeds.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.
Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study (fashion, textiles, environmental art, social sciences or arts and media) or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within the S4S project. Applicants will be able to work as part of a large team, organise themselves and consultants, work on multiple demands to tight deadlines and have some experience with social scientific and / or arts and humanities methods of analysis.

The starting salary will be from £26,495 up to £33,518 on Grade E, depending on qualifications and experience.
