Department
Student and Academic Services (SAS) provides a wide-range of services and support to students and academic staff. Our student services span the complete student lifecycle from enquiry, through enrolment and on-course support, to graduation and beyond. Our academic services include direct support for academic staff in many aspects of their work, and portfolio support spanning the course lifecycle, from planning and approval, through to curriculum management and programme review. Our ambition is that the services we provide should be sector-leading, adapted to meet the needs of our University, and sufficiently flexible to respond rapidly to changing requirements.
Faculty Student and Academic Services Administration provides professional support to undergraduate, postgraduate, and research students across the student lifecycle - from enrolment to final award. We also support the academic community in the areas of research, consultancy, enterprise, and knowledge exchange.
Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Research and Knowledge Exchange administrative team within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The role is responsible for managing a small team in providing high quality professional support for staff research activity and early career researchers within the Faculty.
The role requires a proactive approach to organising and managing a range of activities to facilitate project objectives, in addition to contributing to and supporting the Faculties capability to respond to opportunities for Research Development.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive, and responsive individual with proven experience of project management, ideally within a research environment. You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, as well as your ability to establish positive and effective working relationships with staff at all levels and with external partners. You must be able to demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills in a project management context, and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.
The ideal candidate must be able to work flexibly (including outside normal working hours by agreement), proactively, and independently, and as part of a team, to meet Faculty and team objectives. You will also need to have proven line management experience including setting objectives, managing performance and staff development to enhance service delivery.
