A fixed term post for 12 months in the first instance with an option for further extension
The Departments of Materials and Bioengineering wish to appoint a Lab Technician to support ongoing experimental research in regenerative medicine, which focuses on biomaterials and nanomaterials synthesis and development as well as tissue and cell culture.
The post is based within the Biomaterials group at Imperial College London, working with Professor Molly Stevens. The Stevens group has received numerous awards for outstanding biomaterials related research (www.stevensgroup.org) and comprises a very international and multidisciplinary group of postdoctoral fellows and PhD students.
The Lab Technician will perform key supporting tasks toward the development of existing experimental projects and will be responsible for the efficient and smooth running of the laboratory. The Lab Technician will be expected to perform basic cell culture, molecular biology, and microbiology techniques as well as support chemical-based experiments, their characterisation techniques and instrumentation maintenance, assisting with the day-to-day organisation of the laboratory, and overseeing the preparation, storage, and inventory control of laboratory equipment and supplies.
The candidate must have a relevant academic or vocational qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant role, and have experience with basic biological and cell culture techniques, molecular biology, and general wet lab techniques. Excellent communication and organisational skills are necessary.
