36 Beaumont Street
The School of Archaeology is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the European Research Council-funded project, 'Feeding Anglo-Saxon England: The Bio-archaeology of an Agricultural Revolution'. The overall aim of the project is to build and integrate key lines of evidence for characterising the agroecology of early medieval farming. A central method will be stable carbon and nitrogen isotope analysis of archaeological plant and faunal material, to chart crop growing conditions and animal feeding ecology, respectively. The project team in Oxford will consist of several senior staff with relevant expertise and three postdoctoral researchers focused respectively on archaeobotany, pollen analysis and stable isotope work (this post). This team will work closely with archaeo-zoologists in Leicester.
The position is full-time and fixed-term for 20 months.
Applicants must have a PhD in bio-archaeology (or related discipline) incorporating stable isotope analysis of bio-archaeological material.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on Friday 13 October 2017.
Please note that the University of Oxford's retirement policy is changing. With effect from October 1 2017, all employees at Grade 8 and above will have a retirement age of 68, and all employees at Grades 6 and 7 will no longer have a set retirement age.
