Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computational Modelling of Vascular Tumour Growth. Terms and conditions vacancy
Andrew Wiles BuildingRadcliffe Observatory QuartersWoodstock Road
Grade 7: Salary £31,604 - £38,833 p.a.
We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position, funded by Cancer Research UK and based at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This work will be jointly supervised by Professor Helen Byrne (Wolfson Centre for Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Institute), Professor Philip Maini (Wolfson Centre for Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Institute) and Dr Joe Pitt-Francis (Department of Computer Science), and involves collaboration with Professor Ruth Muschel (Department of Oncology).
This is a fixed-term position for up to 9 months and is available for an immediate start.
This project will focus on the investigation of existing computational multiscale models of vascular tumour growth. Model simulations and analysis of their outputs will provide insights into the mechanisms that regulate the growth of vascular tumours and assist with the identification of improved strategies for their treatment.
With a PhD awarded, or a Master's degree and PhD submitted (at the time of taking up the position), the successful candidate will possess expertise in at least one of the following areas: multiscale modelling, applying numerical methods to solve multiscale models of vascular tumour growth, techniques for characterizing the morphology of vascular networks, and programming in C++ or a similar language. Applicants should also have a good publication record, judged by their career stage.
Please direct informal enquiries to the Administrative Assistant, quoting vacancy reference 130718.
Applicants should read the job description before writing their application. You will be required to upload a letter setting out how you meet the selection criteria, a curriculum vitae including full list of publications, a statement of research interests and the contact details of two referees as part of your online application. (NOTE: Applicants are responsible for contacting their referees and making sure that their letters are received by the closing date.)
Only applications received before 12.00 noon on Friday 15 September 2017 can be considered.
