The University of Aberdeen, Department of Archaeology, urgently seeks to appoint a part-time (60%; 0.6 FTE), fixed-term Teaching Fellow in Archaeology. The post is tenable as soon as possible for 9 months to cover the teaching role of Dr Gordon Noble who has been awarded a Leverhulme Leadership Award, and ideally will be taken up by the successful candidate no later than October 1st 2017.
The principal duties of the role will be to coordinate and deliver core and option courses in archaeology in the Department of Archaeology and to contribute to other (co-taught) courses within the Department, including lectures, tutorials, practicals and fieldtrips. There will be some (limited) additional academic administrative duties, and (co-)supervision of project students. The courses are likely to include modules on British prehistory, Scottish archaeology, archaeological fieldwork and archaeological practice.
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Archaeology or a related field. An educational and research background in field archaeology and Scottish or British prehistory is particularly desirable. Ideally, candidates will have experience of undergraduate teaching and have the ability to respond enthusiastically and positively to students. Candidates should be able to work as part of a team, and be willing to work collaboratively with colleagues in Archaeology and other disciplines in the School and University.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale (£32,548 - £38,833 per annum, pro rata), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
