A Communications Assistant is required at the University of Exeter's Medical School, Exeter. The role is based in the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC) South West Peninsula, aka PenCLAHRC. This post will support the Engagement, Research Information and Communications Manager to create content for, and deliver, a suite of internal and external communications channels. This paid role is available for 14 months and part of the Graduate Business Partnerships Scheme.

The main duties of this role will include collating and producing content, including editing and proof reading, for newsletters, press releases, emails, web pages and social media. The appointee will also be expected to update and maintain the PenCLAHRC website and Intranet, maintain their social media presence (e.g. Twitter), compile and distribute the e-newsletter and assist in marketing activities, including attending and producing marketing materials for events that require a PenCLAHRC presence. The role will also including liaising with PenCLAHRC staff and students to identify communications opportunities, liaising with the Events and Training Assistant to ensure PenCLAHRC events are widely promoted and liaising with the PenCLAHRC PR consultant, and Press Officers from the University of Exeter and Plymouth University Medical Schools to ensure that press releases and news stories are communicated with stakeholders. The appointee will also have the opportunity to support the delivery and promotion of video, audio, infographic and text content generated to demonstrate the impact of PenCLAHRC projects, as well as liaising with academics, service users, and clinicians from various organisations and institutions across the UK regarding projects, events and activities.

We are looking for a highly organised graduate, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who is able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people in a professional manner. The ideal candidate will pay excellent attention to detail, and be able to manage a varied workload whilst prioritising effectively in the face of conflicting demands. Applicants should also have prior experience of writing editing and copywriting, experience of using social media, and experience of the workplace. Excellent IT skills including the use of Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are also required. The Interview date is set for 4th October 2017.
