The Role

Reporting to the Team Leader Electrical Services, this role requires an experienced electrician to work as part of the Operations Team resolving faults, and undertaking activities maintaining and repairing the network.   

Key responsibilities include network fault find and repair, network maintenance, completing proactive and corrective maintenance of overhead lines and underground cables, operation and switching activities, new electrical reticulation construction and being rostered on the 24-hour callout roster. The role includes climbing up the odd power pole or two and working in weather that can be challenging.

A key requirement for this role is being located within a 30 minute drive of The Lines Company depots in either Te Kuiti or Taumarunui, to enable efficient and timely response whilst on the 24-hour fault response and repair roster.

You will have 5+ years’ experience as a registered electrician, with broad industry experience preferably within network distribution (desirable but not essential). Your ability to organise your time and work in an often time demanding role is a must.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a registered electrician within New Zealand
  • Current full EWRB licence and practicing licence
  • Knowledge of industry safety requirements
  • Relevant electrical trade competencies
  • Advocate and demonstrate good Health & Safety practices
  • Able to lift heavy weights up to 20kg
  • Common sense problem solver
  • Class 1 drivers licence
  • Distribution experience (desirable)
