This role in the Office of the Judicial Conduct Commissioner will give you the opportunity to analyse and advise on legal and policy issues relating to the handling of complaints about the judiciary.
The Office of the Judicial Conduct Commissioner is a small team that produces high quality advice and support to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner. You will contribute to this by working across the Ministry to assist the Commissioner and Deputy to deal with often complex complaints. As the sole staff member in the office you must be able to work independently and be prepared to assist with a variety of administrative tasks as required.
This is a full-time position but applications for a part-time position will also be considered. The part-time position would be for approx. 32 hours per week. The specific arrangement of these hours will be discussed and mutually agreed upon with the successful candidate. The salary for the full-time position is around $90,000 per annum.
To be successful in this role you will be eligible to hold a practising certificate, have demonstrable experience and expertise in providing written legal advice and a sound understanding of judicial protocols, constitutional principles and legal processes that underpin the New Zealand justice system.
