We have an opportunity for a Intermediate Solicitor to join the Corporate Legal team. This role can be based in either our Auckland or Wellington offices. You'll play an active role as part of the FMA's in house legal team, giving guidance to the market on complex and interesting issues as well as providing high quality legal advice to our adviser teams. This is a rare chance to be involved in work that truly influences change. You will:

• Obtain invaluable experience within a financial markets regulator at a time of significant technological developments (like cryptocurrency and FinTech) in financial markets regulation.
• Be at the cutting edge of the implementation of the Financial Markets Conduct Act and future law reforms.
• Gain in-depth understanding and experience across a range of financial services and products.
• Work in a fast-paced, varied environment with supportive colleagues from a range of backgrounds.

This role is ideally suited to an open, outgoing person who is looking to extend their technical legal ability within a positive and supportive team. You will have:

• A tertiary qualification in law.
• Current practising certificate (or entitlement to one).
• 4+ years' post admission experience, preferably in commercial or financial services law.
• Working knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the financial sector.
• Some financial services industry knowledge and experience gained in a law firm and/or corporate environment.
• Advanced critical analysis skills.
• Confidence working autonomously.
• Excellent relationship management and communication skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines while producing work of the highest quality.
