Our restaurant is looking for experienced, forward-thinking Chefs who are passionate about culinary arts and what they do. We are looking for an exceptional full-time sous chef, chef de partie. The ideal candidates for these positions will be people who always have an eye to detail and quality. Positions will be responsible for adding to our experience and traditions, preparing amazing in-house made meals for our diners, keeping a well-run, organised and clean kitchen successful and partnering with the Head Chef to come up with delectable new dishes to add to our menu. About the role

Your primary role is to oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals inside of Portofino. Duties associated with this role include working with colleague chefs in their section in preparing, cooking, and presenting culinary dishes; enforcing strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen; and troubleshooting any problems that may arise.

Sous chef will be supporting the head chef with admin, systems development, budgeting, costing, menu development and training of new staff.

Skills and experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a chef in a high-paced environment
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, pressured environment 
  • Be self-motivated & self-disciplined
  • An ability to 'think outside the square' and a creative flare
  • requires cook with studies in gastronomy
  • knowledge in international and Italian cuisine
  • excellent management of cooking terms, mass production of food, good handling of interpersonal relationships
  • personnel management, responsible, organized and punctual.
