Bread & Butter Bakery located in Central Auckland / Grey Lynn is looking for a bakery manager with a minimum of 15 years experience in the baking industry. We would like to welcome someone into the team who has a real passion for natural sourdough bread and traditional cakes, pastries and savouries. We don't use premixes, off-the-shelf fillings and other "quick fixes". 

The role will straddle both pastry and bread departments. The duties will include, but not be limited to:

Management of production, operations, distribution, stock rotation, food hygiene systems, product development, people development, cost and quality control,  maintenance and sourcing of new of equipment and technology, IT management and hiring. You will be working closely with the owners of the business as well as the heads of departments (pastry, bread, kitchen, cafe managers).

The ideal applicant will have:

• A minimum of 15 years experience in the production of artisan European breads and/or pastries

• A minimum of 5 years in production and people management

• An excellent understanding of production and baking techniques

• Experience in traditional fermentation and sourdough techniques

• A good palate and a love for new and different flavour combinations

• Experience in recipe developement and optimisation

• An excellent command of the English language

• A high tolerance for stress and working under pressure

• A commitment to high personal and professional standards

• Level 5 NZQA Qualification or European Apprenticeship equivalent

• A Business Management or European Master Baker degree or equivalent


Weekend availablility a must!

This position offers approximately 40+ hours per week, including occasional weekend work.
