Phytomed is a growing herbal medicine manufacturing and distribution company, and a leader in the New Zealand natural health product sector. We pride ourselves on producing the highest quality herbal medicines for practitioners and consumers, and our use of New Zealand produced ingredients in these products.
We are seeking a Production Technician to join our team based at our Avondale manufacturing facility. This role largely involves manufacturing with some packing and warehouse duties, and would be suited to a Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical manufacturing technician, or Food Processing Engineer wanting to gain valuable experience working in the fast-growing natural health products industry.
Working closely with a team of 3-4 other manufacturing technicians, the Production Technician undertakes a range of manual and mechanised manufacturing operations, mainly in relation to bulk liquid extract production, and completes accompanying documentation requirements.
Main Duties include:
- Dispensing ingredients for batch manufacture.
- Manufacture and packing of liquid and topical batches.
- Blending, packing and labelling dried herb batches.
- Operation of milling and blending machines.
- Moving raw materials and finished products to appropriate storage area(s).
- Cleaning of equipment and production areas, according to relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Completion of batch documentation, in accordance to the pharmaceutical Code of Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP).
- Implementing the daily manufacturing and packing plans
- Seeking out process and efficiency improvement practices and presenting these to management
- Helping to ensure our Health and Safety responsibilities are met
The successful applicant will be available to work Monday to Friday and some Saturdays or Sundays, be physically fit and able to cope under pressure in a busy but friendly team environment where adherence to procedures and pharmaceutical SOP requirements, is essential.
This is a permanent full-time position. Experience with a pharmaceutical, natural health or food manufacturing company is preferred, and good spoken and written English and communication skills are essential.
