We are seeking a NZ registered clinical psychologist to join our consultation liaison psychiatry team at Wellington hospital. Our Mental Health Addictions & Intellectual Disability Consultation Liaison provides services to the general Wellington Regional Hospitals, as well as outpatient services for patients at the interface of medicine and psychiatry. The service is provided to two hospitals in the region - Wellington and Kenepuru, and includes specific liaison with the HIV, Haematology, Cancer Services, Neurology dept. Renal Services and Palliative Care. The team consists of a consultant psychiatrist, medical registrars, nurses, administrator and a nurse team leader.
You will:
- Have experience working in mental health and be confident in carrying out mental health assessments
- Have an active role in developing professional relationships with clinicians within the hospital, mental health services and external providers through engagement, support and education, provide time limited brief psychological interventions and referral to appropriate services within the community.
- Be highly motivated and enthusiastic.
- Be responsive and approachable.
- Enjoy working as a member of the team within the multi-disciplinary service, and take a lead in quality development and teaching.
Requirements:
- A NZ registered clinical psychologist or a postgraduate qualification that would result in recognition of specialist psychologist status by the New Zealand Psychologist Board.
- Experience in working with Maori in a Kaupapa setting (Desirable)
- Dual Diagnosis Alcohol & Drug experience (Desirable)
- Experience with collaborative working (Desirable)
- A current driver’s license (Essential)
