  • Work with a dynamic team coordinating delivery between several large organisations in Auckland
  • NZ’s leading Public Health Service
  • Fabulous Auckland (Greenlane) Location
The organisation
The Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) is New Zealand's largest public health unit, working to promote and protect the health and wellbeing of all people in the Tamaki Makaurau / the Auckland region. We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team to lead the delivery of an exciting new public health initiative.

The successful person
You are an experienced, senior health project manager who is committed to reducing health inequalities and improving outcomes for communities in Tamaki Makaurau / the Auckland region. You are experienced at managing complex projects and ensuring that they deliver on their promises.  You are familiar with the complexities of collaborative delivery and working in partnership.  You have successfully built strategic, collaborative, action orientated relationships with key stakeholders and organisations. You have the creativity and confidence to work with people at all levels and bring a strong customer service ethic.  Your abilities in leading, planning, implementing and evaluating strategic programmes are evident and to top it off you're proactive, organised and self - managing. If you possess all of these qualities we would like to hear from you.

The role
This is a three year fixed term role to lead the implementation of a comprehensive, region-wide collaborative public health programme working across the whole system – urban planning, water infrastructure, policy, beverage supply and retail, community, health, education, and sport – to make water the easy and first choice of beverage in Tamaki Makaurau.

Key result areas for the role include:
  • Providing programme management leadership for Wai Auckland (the programme), including establishment of programme structures, reporting and oversight of delivery
  • Building positive working relationships with stakeholders, team members and regional partners to ensure the consistency of programme development and implementation.

About the programme (Wai Auckland)
Wai Auckland is a proposed comprehensive public health programme which will see a coalition between ADHB, CM Health, WDHB, Auckland Transport, Auckland Council, ARPHS, other Healthy Auckland Together partners and Watercare. It involves working across the whole system – urban planning, water infrastructure, policy, beverage supply and retail, community, health, education, and sport – to make water the easy and first choice of beverage.
There are four closely-linked programme streams with a lead agency responsible for each stream and an agency providing overall programme management. The four streams are:
  • improvements to the quality and accessibility of tap water infrastructure across Auckland
  • policy work to decrease intake of sugary drinks
  •  communications and marketing
  • community and local initiatives aligned with the programme.

The programme will reach much of Auckland’s population but will specifically target areas of Auckland where obesity levels and sugary drink consumption are high amongst children and young people.
