McMillen Jacobs Associates’ Auckland office is looking for a Project Engineer with 7+ years of geotechnical experience. The successful candidate will serve on projects within Australia and New Zealand. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic office experiencing rapid growth in a healthy market focused on infrastructure development, specifically in the underground sector for the foreseeable future.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in design of tunnels and shafts, including temporary and permanent support systems.
  • Work on a variety of office and field assignments, with a focus on geotechnical engineering analyses, development of drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical memoranda that present the basis of design.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Engineering with a geotechnical emphasis.
  • Ability to develop and review designs, drawings, specifications, and technical memoranda.
  • Knowledge of tunnel excavation, ground support and permanent lining construction methods would be considered advantageous.
  • Strong experience in using software for structural analysis (e.g., Strand7) and to a lesser extent ground structure interaction modelling (e.g., Plaxis and FLAC)
  • Structural design experience for ground support, tunnel linings, retaining walls and shafts would be an advantage
  • AutoCAD experience would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills (fluent in English for both spoken and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential.
  • Willing to travel within Australia and New Zealand for short term
