The role

This is a newly created role based at our Newmarket Support Office and will report to the Group Finance Manager. The Accounts Payable Manager role involves significant interaction with Village teams and Support Office functions to oversee that the Accounts Payable function accurately and efficiently process accounts payable transactions, in line with agreed processes to ensure internal and external service levels and standards are met or exceeded. Ensuring data integrity is maintained at all times and provide professional support and issue resolution to internal customers and suppliers is provided will be key. A key focus to the role will be challenging the status quo, implementing new processes and obtaining consistency across the group.

The role will involve the remote management, training and mentoring a team to strive to ensure prompt and accurate processing of accounts payable transactions while providing efficient service to the village teams and Support Office in a collaborative and supportive team environment. The team process on-line invoices, complete reconciliations, deal with expense claims, purchase orders and pro-actively supports the wider village, finance and administration teams. The role will be a key link between the village Accounts Payable function and the greater Finance team.

The role will involve preparing monthly Accounts Payable reporting and reconciliation of supplier payment batches and manage the payment calendar and critical dates. In addition to managing a general accounts payable function, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and ad-hoc/value added projects will be part of this role.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience managing an accounts payable function within a large organisation - Experience in multi-entity accounts payable function using electronic invoice processing and online banking applications
• An eagerness to challenge the status quo and identify areas for improvement and efficiencies within Accounts Payable
• Experience with reconciliations
• People leadership experience and team player
• Strong knowledge of Excel and multi-entity accounting
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to engage with the business
• Flexible to change and an agile learner
• Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisation skills
• Advanced analytical and creative problem-solving skills combined with good judgement and decision-making ability
• Providing accurate timely and quality support to internal business groups customers and business associates
• Knowledge of and/or experience with Greentree would be helpful, but is not essential.
• Relevant diploma or degree
