ABOUT THE ROLE

RCR Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our company through our graduate programme. This position will be based in our Napier office.

The graduate programme is a 2 year programme where graduates will be provided with on-going training and mentoring in all aspects of the business including estimating, design, workshop experience, and site work. On successful completion of the programme, the graduate will become a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Engineering Team.


DUTIES

  • Design of fired and unfired pressure vessels
  • Design of structures for supporting plant equipment
  • Design of ancillary equipment to complete the overall plant design including materials handling and storage, ducting and stacks, piping, tanks and noise control equipment
  • Transport and lifting design requirements
  • Liaise with Manufacturing to ensure items are manufactured according to design criteria
  • Thermal and process design of boiler plant and other heat plant
  • Workshop experience through our Dannevirke heavy fabrication workshop
  • Site construction support activities with our site construction team


SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Sound, practical experience in engineering
  • Excellent customer focus and approach
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills

Employment will be subject to a satisfactory pre-employment health assessment which will include alcohol and drug tests.

The recruitment process may require candidates to attend an interview in Napier (travel at RCR’s expense) and may include psychometric & personality profiling. Candidates who are in their final year of study need to be aware the successful completion of their studies will be a requirement for ongoing employment.
