Due to continued growth and export success, Syft is seeking an electronics technician to join our production team to assemble and test our flagship scientific instrument. Our instruments combine purpose-built hardware and electronic systems, vacuum and pumping systems, as well as the very latest in ion chemistry.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to apply their electronics knowledge in a practical, and hands-on manner.
Tasks include:
- Performing diagnostics on electronics modules and making appropriate corrections.
- Electronics module assembly including SMPS, microprocessors, RF, and digital circuitry.
- Providing electronics expertise and instrument-based diagnostic assistance to other production teams.
While electronics assembly experience is an advantage, the key quality we are looking for is good electronics knowledge and the underlying principles behind them. We can provide assembly training for the right candidate if needed. As such, this role is suitable for both experienced technicians and recent graduates with electronics qualifications who have a good academic knowledge of electronics components and testing procedures.
Our ideal candidate:
- Will have either technician experience in a similar role, or academic knowledge of electronics (certificate, degree, or diploma level).
- Has a hands-on, practical approach and brings a sharp mind to problem-solving.
- Has a can-do-will-do attitude, thrives on challenges and works to tight deadlines.
- Has a willingness to work directly with engineers, scientists, and sales staff to produce high-quality outcomes for our customers.
- Can think outside the square and is not afraid to ask questions.
- Can take initiative and can work unsupervised.
- Has an excellent attention to detail.
This is a full-time, 24-month fixed term position based at our production office in Christchurch. A shorter 12-month term can also be considered for the right candidate.
