KiwiRail is New Zealand's national railway, employing around 3,400 talented people in a wide range of business functions. Our Network Services team is responsible for maintaining 4,000 kilometres of rail corridor, bridges, tunnels, viaducts, overhead wires, signals and level crossings.
This position will report to the Engineering Manager of Engineering & Logistics and will support this Manager in leading a skilled team of Engineering professionals with a focus on continuous improvement, regarding customer satisfaction, performance, quality, productivity, cost reduction sustainability and overall staff development.
We are seeking an experienced Team Leader to provide leadership and resource management for an Engineering discipline team within our Network Services group located in Wellington.
Our ideal candidate will come from an infrastructure background with a specialisation in Stormwater, Water Resources or Geotechnical Engineering and have proven their ability to lead a technical team.
The primary responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide leadership and management for a team of office-based Civil and Track engineers
- Ensure efficient resource allocation to meet customer demands
- Support the attraction and retention of personnel aligned with best practice Workforce planning
- Coordinate the professional development of staff to ensure they meet both the internal and external customer needs
Your Skills:
- Experience developing work plans to achieve output targets
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team
- Strong understanding of lean project management principles and efficiency enhancement
- Passion for continuous improvement and cost reduction while delivering optimal customer service
- Ability to foster and manage relationships with other teams and business groups
- Strong understanding of Engineering principles - Stormwater, Water Resources or Geotechincal discipline (preferred)
