KiwiRail is New Zealand's national railway, employing around 3,400 talented people in a wide range of business functions. Our Network Services team is responsible for maintaining 4,000 kilometres of rail corridor, bridges, tunnels, viaducts, overhead wires, signals and level crossings.
We are seeking an Asset Engineer for the Upper South Island to join our Network Services team based in Christchurch.
Your Role
In this role you will be responsible for the track and structures assets in the field, delivering the inspection work-bank and creating and scheduling maintenance and renewals plans. You will draw on your deadline orientation and prioritisation skills to effectively manage target start dates, finish dates and budget estimations. You will be the primary interface with third parties to ensure that constructive working relationships are developed and maintained, including offering expert technical advice. You will hold your team accountable for best practice process and adherence to code requirements.
Your Skills
This position is a great opportunity to demonstrate your strong problem solving ability, whilst maintaining a strong commitment to achieving performance to plan and productivity targets.
- You will hold a Tertiary qualification in Engineering, and demonstrate experience working in operations within a transport corridor, infrastructure or service organisation.
- Experience with asset management systems within a linear or mobile asset environment is a pre-requisite, along with knowledge of best practice asset management principles, including the codes, standards and their application to work practices.
- You will also possess excellent communication skills, be a critical thinker with stong computer literacy - knowledge of Maximo is a definite advantage
- You will have a proven ability to lead, coach and contribute to a high performing team
