Are you passionate about education and your community? This Senior Delivery Manager role leads a team of Delivery Managers and works with our schools to build better learning environments for future generations.
About you:
At the core of this role is the leadership of a team of Delivery Managers across the region, therefore, proven leadership experience is essential to grow this newly developed team into an established and performing delivery operation.
You will have a genuine commitment to creating a better future for generations to come and be comfortable working with a diverse range of people, personalities and challenges.
In addition to a relevant qualification or formal Project Management qualification, you enjoy managing the design and build of multiple projects, small and large, simultaneously.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Effective leadership and responsibility for up to 6 Delivery Managers managing a portfolio of between 20 to 30 projects across the team
- Internal and external stakeholder engagement and management
- Approximately 50% of your role will be the project delivery, managing 2-3 projects at one time
- The first escalation point on project issues and key contact for schools and the Ministry delivery team.
Using your people leadership skills, you will strive to get the best from your team and foster a positive, collaborative culture with a focus on continuous improvement.
About the Ministry of Education:
The Ministry of Education manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, with over 2,100 primary and secondary state schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $17.2 billion.
This role sits within Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) which undertakes approximately 3,000 projects a year, a combination of Ministry and School led projects costing at least $800m per annum.
Capital Works is a team within the EIS, which has been established to manage rebuilding, remodeling and providing new schools across New Zealand.
