This position will principally support the Finance Manager but will also provide back up to the wider Finance team as and when required. 

Some of the key responsibilities and accountabilities:

• Accounts Receivable – Debtors Maintenance / Invoicing
• Accounts Receivable Debt Collection – Back Up
• Accounts Payable Overview – Creditors Maintenance/Credit Applications
• Daily Processing of Bank Statement Transactions/Journals
• Month End Journals/Balance Sheet Reconciliations as per Monthly Timetable
• Preparation/Reconciliation of IRD Returns/Compliance Income Tax, GST, FBT, Statistics
• Manage Fixed Assets/Capex
• Manage Interim and Annual Audits
• Assist with Budgets/Forecasts
• Assist Agency Finance/Operations with Processing, Reconciliations and Reports

Skills / experience required:

• Preferably CA/CPA or working towards completion
• 3+ years work experience in a similar accounting and finance role of a medium size business, with shipping industry experience being an advantage
• Working proficiency in accounting systems, preferably MYOB Exonet and Xero
• Experience with NZ online banking systems
• Knowledge of NZ tax laws including Income Tax, GST, FBT
• Working proficiency with MS Office applications, particularly Excel
• Proven ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, with people at all levels
• Team-oriented – contributes to common goals and willingly helps others
• Organised – proven ability to prioritise work and achieve challenging deadlines
• Proactive – demonstrates commitment to continuous improvement
• Quality focused – adopts a thorough approach and achieves high accuracy
