This Programme Manager will lead a team of Senior Delivery Managers and Delivery Managers, working with our schools to develop and deliver exceptional education facilities for their communities.

You naturally build trust and credibility and comfortable navigating politics and competing interests in a high-profile programme of work. You’re skilled in conflict resolution, problem solving, contract management and financial/operational management.
Key role responsibilities include:
- Leadership of a team of up to six Senior Delivery Managers to deliver major capital works projects (greater than $1 mill). The Senior Delivery Managers are each responsible for around 30 projects delivered by their team of five or six Delivery Managers
- Providing strategic direction as a high-performance champion for our customer focused culture
- Shaping how our programme of work is delivered and managed
- Supporting Capital Works to provide the best results for New Zealand schools.
Reporting into the Deputy Head EIS (Capital Works), you will use your people leadership and influencing skills to get the best from your team, fostering a positive and collaborative culture with a focus on continuous improvement.
About the Ministry of Education:
The Ministry of Education manages one of the largest property portfolios in New Zealand, with over 2,100 primary and secondary state schools and over 8,000 hectares of land with a carrying value of $17.2 billion.
This role sits within Education Infrastructure Service (EIS) which undertakes approximately 3,000 projects a year, a combination of Ministry and School led projects costing at least $800m per annum. Capital Works is a team within the EIS, which has been established to manage rebuilding, remodeling and providing new schools across New Zealand.
