We help young people on their journey to become capable, competent, and widely experienced registered electricians.

The Electrical Training Company (Etco) is 100% owned by Master Electricians, the electrical contracting industry representative body.Our mission is to employ, educate and develop apprentices to be among the most capable electricians in the industry, and we have been doing this for 27 years.Our Apprentices and students are important to us, and our willingness to develop them as individuals motivates us to provide excellent learning environments and strong support while they are in our care.

As Health & Safety Advisor you will report directly to the Health & Safety Manager, your key outcomes will include:

  • Actively promote health and safety
  • Ensure that H&S management systems remain compliant
  • The proactive management of employees’ injury rehabilitation
  • Ensure the H&S of workers through the effective management of health and safety risks across the business
  • Effectively communicating H&S matters to employees and other stakeholders via newsletters and other mediums

For this role you must have:

  • A genuine passion for workplace health and safety
  • A minimum of 2 years health and safety experience in a similar role
  • Minimum NZQA Level 4 health & safety qualification or NEBOSH I.G.C.
  • Experience with incident investigations (preferably using ICAM)
  • Experience with risk management processes, including risk assessments
  • A thorough understanding of health & safety legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels of the business, both internally and externally
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Proven time management and organisational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, involving a diverse range of people
  • Good administration and keyboard skills (Proficient on Excel, Word, Outlook)

You will ideally have:

  • Knowledge of Health & safety management standards (i.e. AS/NZS 4801, or ISO 45001)
  • Experience in managing employees back into the workplace following illness or injury
  • Experience in training and coaching in health and safety
