We have an exciting opportunity within our Health & Safety team for an experienced Occupational Health Nurse to bring their passion and drive to help change the face of Occupational Health within the DHB. It’s not often that you get the chance to design and deliver a fit for purpose programme of work and have the scope to make real changes to the way things are done - ultimately improving employee health care and health outcomes.

To succeed in this role you will need to:

  • Be a Registered Nurse and hold a current Nursing Council of NZ annual practicing certificate
  • Have experience in developing and implementing health promotion and disease prevention strategies/programmes related to workplace risks
  • Possess solid knowledge of adult learning concepts and experience in teaching adult learners (you should hold a qualification in Adult Teaching or demonstrate equivalence)
  • Experience in managing workplace ergonomic issues
  • Have excellent communication skills and the tools to deal with conflict resolution, diffusion and mediation

As Occupational Health Nurse, the responsibilities of your role will include:

  • Creating a fit for purpose injury management and prevention programme to meet the requirements of the ACC Partnership Programme
  • Developing, managing and communicating all SDHB occupational health policies, procedures and standards ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Delivery of a robust health monitoring programme to identify and mitigate/manage all occupational health risks

Reporting into the Welfare Manager, this key role has a wide ranging scope and will see you functioning in the role of clinician, educator, consultant and manager. You will provide oversight, vision and support for SHDB management and employees in all aspects of workplace occupational health management.
