The Role
We are looking for someone who is able to present a positive and professional image of Datacom. As the Desktop Support Engineer you are expected to provide high quality support to our customers by being the escalation point for our customer and by resolving their technical problems quickly and clearly via hands-on approach or remotely if required.
 
We are looking for someone with a strong customer focused with the ability to understand and prioritise the customer’s needs. You will understand that customer satisfaction is key to your success in the role.
 
In this role your key responsibilities include:
  • Working closely with customers to troubleshoot and resolve reported issues, requests and problems.
  • Creating excellent working relationships with customers and internal team.
  • Demonstrating a high level of customer service.
  • Remotely installing, configuring and supporting Windows based laptops and desktops.
  • Supporting Microsoft Office suite and other software.
  • Account (AD), Exchange Mailbox and Antivirus administration.
 
The Person
We are looking for someone with a proven history of delivery windows desktop support and have solid exposure working in medium to large enterprise environment. This role will suit someone with a can-do and enjoys problem solving. You have a strong customer focused and have a desire to understand our client’s business.
 
Our ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and experiences:
  • 2 years + in helpdesk/desktop support.
  • A good understanding of IT server systems.
  • Established technical skills and qualifications in IT. (Essential to have MCSA: Windows 7/8.1 or MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Support Technician 7 level or a comparative qualification)
  • Troubleshooting and diagnostic experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems such as Active Directory, DNS, OS, Web, Exchange, Lync, SCCM.
  • Experience with System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM), especially application and patch deployment. 
  • Experience releasing Microsoft patches using Windows Server Update Services.
  • A fair understanding of networking, including DHCP and DNS.
  • Strong communication skills including verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Strict case management and updates.
  • Time management and prioritisation skills.
  • New Zealand Residency
