Description:

Fuel50 is an innovative NZ based technology company backed by Silicon Valley VC firms and rapidly expanding globally. With many enterprise clients and an exciting product roadmap, we are now looking to add a dedicated SecOps engineer to the team to oversee security and operational IT to support our continued expansion. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about both security and ops, keen to grow their career, and wants to be part of a growing technology company.  

You will be reporting directly to the CTO and responsible for ensuring that Fuel50’s operational IT and product SecOps practices remain world class. This is a diverse role with a mixture of actual hands-on SecOps ‘technical’ tasks, collaborating with the internal Development team to maintain excellent security practices, completing security questionnaires and audits and providing technical pre-sales support.  

There will be some coding involved in this role, along the lines of shell scripts, lambda functions in AWS, salt scripts, etc. You will also be responsible for managing the delivery of corporate networking, infrastructure, server software and desktop applications via our external provider. We are looking for someone who thrives on variety and who is happy to tackle SecOps tasks at any level. 

You will be an effective communicator, with fluent written and spoken English, and keen to both work hard and have a laugh at the same time! Tech skills we're looking for: 

• Excellent understanding of security on cloud IaaS platforms, in particular around network security and hardening of Linux platforms and good understanding of best practices

• Experience with AWS and security features that can be incorporated into the overall platform 

• Ability to efficiently communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences 

• Track record of facilitating internal security training programs 

• Experience managing 3rd party suppliers and performing risk assessments on new vendors 

• Experience completing regular Risk and Compliance reviews 

• Enhancing monitoring systems using AWS tools and integrating 3rd party vendors to ensure rapid reporting, detection and response to any alerts (security or ops related)

• Ability to deliver high quality shell scripts, lambda functions and Salt scripts as need to maintain servers and reporting and monitoring systems 

• Experience creating dashboards and metrics which will be used to monitor our SaaS platform and internal HQ systems and provide automated reporting and alerting
