Summerset is the third largest retirement village operator in New Zealand. We're passionate about providing quality service to our clients and we are growing quickly, with 21 villages from Warkworth down to Dunedin.
We have an exciting opportunity for a proven Design Manager to join our in house design team at Summerset. Our in house construction team have cost, design and delivery departments which provide a unique learning environment with Summerset teams performing Client, Designer, Main Contractor and Operator roles.
Working as one team to develop the villages Summerset do it all in house, from the identification and purchase of new sites to the design, construction and operation of the facilities.

What will your responsibilities be?
- You will be responsible for the management of all aspects of the design for your allocated villages (projects), including:
- Developed Design & Detailed Design Phases and Construction Monitoring
- In house design Graduate/ Technician quality outputs
- Consultant/ Design Team management.
- direct reports
- design programme
- Quality and collaborative design
- Ensuring that each build meets the high standards of Summerset and creates a thriving community for our residents
Who are we looking for?
- Ideally someone with experience in a similar business or a large developer
- An affinity to understand Summerset Values and the Summerset Way to improve the lives of older people
- A relevant tertiary qualification, LBP2 qualified and Revit software experience
- NZ experience
- MS Project desirable
- Strong Design Management and process knowledge
- Collaborative "One Team" approach
