First, here’s a little about us

We are an integrated, award-winning design studio that removes the traditional boundaries between the disciplines of architecture, landscape and urban design. We are guided by a clear set of principles and ideas; our kaupapa is based on deepening the relationships between land, people and culture.

Here’s the role

  • Conduct analysis of the built environment and apply an understanding of urban systems to design places, spaces and neighbourhoods
  • Drive innovation with award-winning, impactful solutions that extend and enrich places, people and communities
  • Apply a solid knowledge of a range of design tools and methodologies, including design production of concepts using Adobe Suite and CAD software (Autocad and/or Archicad)

Do you have?

  • 4 – 6+ years working across urban design projects
  • A first degree in Architecture or Landscape Architecture, an Urban Design qualification is a bonus
  • Strategic big picture thinking and ability to carefully integrate design and planning to push a design vision forward
  • An understanding of residential and mixed-use building typologies
  • A good understanding of streetscape and public realm
  • Knowledge of Auckland's planning framework and consenting processes
  • A hunger for excellence, innovation, and doing things differently
  • Excitement for collaborating within our “no boundaries” design environment

What it’s like to work at Isthmus:

  • You’ll join a studio that’s design-led, and led by designers
  • Personal growth is important here and you’ll get the encouragement to stretch your abilities and fast-track your career
  • Work/life balance is encouraged and you’ll be offered things like flexible work hours, time in lieu, and our very own public holiday centred around ‘Matariki’ – a day off and a special dinner we throw for the whole team and whnau
  • You’ll enjoy a special values-based culture that also includes lots of little extras like bike parks, fruit deliveries, yoga, team lunches, activities and more

If you’ve got a fresh approach to design and are passionate about taking a strategic view to create some of New Zealand’s best designed places, send us your CV with a portfolio of the work you’re most proud.
