O'Kane Consultants (OKC) is a privately owned environmental and engineering consultancy firm with offices in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, United States, and the United Kingdom.  We specialise in Mine Waste Management and Closure Services, providing technical advice to some of the largest mining companies and government departments globally.  OKC has been involved in closure and rehabilitation planning for clients across Australia, Asia-Pacific, Canada, the United States, South America, Europe, and Africa since 1996.

About the role

OKC is accepting applications for a part-time Administrative Assistant (10 hours per week) based in our Christchurch Office. Days and hours are flexible. Candidates must embody OKC's Core Values. 

Primary Duties Include:

  • Coordinate international and domestic travel bookings as required.
  • Provide scheduling assistance – including booking meetings, maintaining travel and field work calendars, organising client and social functions.
  • Coordinate international and domestic travel bookings as required. 
  • Word processing using the Microsoft Office suite including assisting technical staff with the collation of documents, presentations and reports using the OKC templates, and assisting with data entry and spreadsheet collation.
  • Manage collation of expense receipts, monitoring office budget and assisting with generation of client invoices.
  • Maintaining and monitor staff safety training records, maintain office PPE, and assist the office responsible health and safety representative with championing the OKC safety policy.
  • General administrative responsibilities such as - answer the office phone, process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries, take meeting minutes and maintain office supplies.
  • Other duties as required.

Skills and experience

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Detail-oriented.

• Strong skills in the areas of time management, planning and organising.

• Demonstrate the ability to competently use their initiative to resolve tasks or problems that arise.

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
