Orchard Development Project Manager – Fixed Term
An exciting opportunity exists for a hands-on Project Manager to join the Punchbowl team on a fixed term contract until April 2020. Punchbowl, an innovative kiwifruit packhouse and coolstore facility based in the peaceful rural South Auckland surroundings of Patumahoe, is a leading, medium-sized business that grows, packs and stores kiwifruit and provides a full range of orchard services to our grower clients.
Reporting to the GM – Field and Grower Services, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in the building and implementation of a 24-hectare development at one of our orchards in Te Kohanga. In a previous working life, you might have been a fencer or agricultural farm worker, capable of getting your hands dirty, managing all onsite building operations including structures, shelters, irrigation, fencing, wiring and all other orchard works.
The ideal applicant will possess horticultural knowledge, though whilst this is advantageous, it is not necessary. The ability to plan and effectively manage the project is the primary consideration.
The Orchard Development Project Manager will be responsible for:
- Liaising with delivery for building materials
- Procurement supplies
- Project managing an onsite build
- Staff management
- Land preparation
- Structural building
- Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Orchard Health & Safety operations
The successful applicant will need:
- 3+ years’ project management experience
- Experience in managing, engaging and inspiring staff to build a positive team culture
- Strategic thinking and the ability to communicate well with senior managers and subordinates
- Skills in strategic development planning and implementation
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think outside of the box
- Previous exposure to the Kiwifruit industry advantageous, but not essential
In return, we can offer you:
- A serene country workplace setting in the heart of Franklin
- Company vehicle and mobile phone
- Workplace wellness scheme
- Ongoing training and development
- Fixed term contract until April 2020
In addition to a competitive remuneration package that will reflect experience and skills, Punchbowl offers a relaxed environment in a company that truly lives and breathes its values. This is a unique opportunity to join a friendly and professional team and get involved in a diverse and interesting industry.
