We invite applications for a House Leaders in our Adult Services team. You will be responsible for supporting people with intellectual disabilities to live as independently as possible; you will lead a small team of Support Workers.

This is a full time (40 hours per week) role, but definitely not a ‘9-5’ job; work patterns include split shifts on weekdays, and at least one weekend day at work (with 2 consecutive days off). The role can be busy and demanding, but also fulfilling and very rewarding as you journey alongside people with disabilities and support their development.

 

To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate that you meet the following requirements:

 

  • Minimum of three years’ experience working in the disability field, ideally in a leadership position.
  • Ideally a level 5 NZ qualification (or equivalent) in the health/disability field.
  • Relevant experience to equip you to work with people with intellectual disabilities.
  • Have good communication skills, able to communicate clearly and appropriately with a range of people, and to maintain accurate records and progress notes.
  • A leader willing and able to address issues promptly and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Be focussed on enablement and community participation
  • Able to analyse data, identify root causes of issues, work on solutions; computer literate and able to write succinct and meaningful reports.
  • Be willing and able to work within Hohepa's values and practices (based on the work of Dr Rudolf Steiner).
  • Be trustworthy and have high ethical standards, able to respect confidentiality and privacy.
  • Be drug free, prepared not to smoke during work hours, willing to declare any convictions, be fit for the physical and emotional aspects of the role.
  • Be eligible to work in NZ – if you hold a work visa it must be open with no restrictions on hours or employer.
