Massey University Library is looking for a Metadata Librarian to help expand access to the Library's physical and digital collections through the provision of high-quality metadata. Based in Collection Services, you will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of appropriate metadata for physical and digital resources in the Library collection. You will also provide expert advice to Library staff and management on the use of metadata to make Library resources more easily discoverable by the University's researchers, teachers and students.
You will have the following:
- An understanding of the principles of how metadata standards function in the Library environment
- An interest in, and understanding of, emerging developments in Library metadata standards
- A willingness to engage with different metadata standards
- The flexibility to work in a rapidly-changing environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A strong and pro-active approach to customer service
- A degree, and a professional library qualification (or be working towards one)
- Experience in MARC cataloguing would be an advantage, however training can be provided
This is a permanent, full-time position, working Monday to Friday.
