Addiction Foods NZ Ltd is the manufacturer of global pet food brands – Addiction and Wishbone. We operate and New Zealand's largest dry pet food plant in Te Puke, Bay of Plenty, where we manufacture and export the highest quality pet foods in the world. We are passionate about pets and "We go to the Ends of The Earth for your Pet" by only using the highest quality raw materials in the cleanest place in the world to produce pet food. These and many other brands are manufactured and shipped globally from our Te Puke manufacturing facility.

With good business growth, we are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Extrusion Technicians who are responsible in operating, troubleshooting and maintenance of extrusion machines to ensure continuous production of products in the site; while managing the production team.

Job tasks and responsibilities

• Performs and directs trouble shooting and maintenance of equipment to ensure efficient operation of extruding system and drying system of extrusion plant

• Checks and supervises equipment for efficiency, malfunction and deviation from original operating conditions

• Coordinates with the Site Manager of the needed tools, supplies and spare parts needed for equipment repair

• Monitors daily production output and, if needed, discuss with Site Manger the solution to address inefficiencies due to operational and machine delays to improve finished goods recovery

• Operates line, maintains proper speeds, adjustment, etc. to ensure a quality product and production rates

• Performs continuous inspections of product visually

• Records product and process parameters

• Provides technical assistance for smooth production runs

• Observes proper extrusion operating parameters to conform to product specifications

• Keeps extrusion line and surrounding area clean and orderly and in compliance with 5-S and any lean initiatives

• Supervises the tasks and performance of the loaders and packers

• Ensures a high level of Health & Safety of staff, equipment and all tasks conducted

• Performs work of an equal or lower classification as required

Skills and experience

• Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics and Communications Engineering Certification (Diploma or equivalent)
• Previous experience/exposure working at a pet food/ food manufacturing facility
• Successfully worked in effective teams
• Pays close attention to detail
• High level of numeracy and literacy
• Experience in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting of pet food/ food extrusion machine
