Our client is a leading NZ manufacturer experiencing growth.

You will be working with a vast array of mechanical and electrical components so this position will suit a person with a mechanical aptitude who understands the nuts and bolts of engineering to read a CAD drawing ,decipher Bills of Materials and then visualize and identify the product.

If your background is in the food or clothing industry etc then this position is not for you.

The company currently maintains a low profile, but it manufactures products for very high profile organisations all over the world.

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will operate within in a compact friendly team  environment and  :-

  • Attend project meetings to understand delivery schedules.
  • Interpret BOM's and purchase metal materials, Electrical items, consumables and tooling from suppliers.
  • Source specialized products and respond to secure stock shortages
  • Management of stock using the in-house purchasing system . A Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Walk the floor and have regular contact with management/tradesman to adjust upper & lower stock levels .
  • Maintain pricing and product details.
  • Plan ahead to forecast future trends.
  • Follow up with orders on the phone and track down special components.

As you can see this role is not desk bound and carries a large amount of autonomy, so you will have to be energetic,demonstrate heaps of initiative  and willing to take on different challenges in a fast moving business.

To be competent to fulfill this role you will need:

  • At least 2 years' experience in Purchasing .

  • Experience from within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Experience in computer systems, booking in stock  and raising orders etc
  • Numerical competency  
  • Pay attention to detail.
  • You must have clear spoken English.
  • A flexible can do attitude.
