We have a vacancy for a Shipping professional to join our dynamic team.  We are a fast paced food import and distributor based in Mt Wellington near Sylvia Park shopping centre.  We deal in all aspects of the food industry from food service to industrial, contract manufacturing to product development.

You'll be the type of person who likes to see an issue through to resolution, has a sharp eye for detail and strong organisational skills. We use an in-house system but you'll need  to be confident with Microsoft Office as well.

Key responsibilities

Process shipping documents and liaise with Suppliers /Customs Agent / Logistics provider to ensure the arrival of raw materials into our warehouse in Auckland.

  • Forward all relevant purchase order information and documents to internal and external Customers. Update supplier information and liaise with suppliers as required

  • Answer customer telephone inquiries, take orders, respond to service needs or, where appropriate, seek advice from more experienced staff or direct such matters to sales personnel or Business Managers and monitor outcomes.

  • Liaise with sales and support staff to keep them up to date on the progress of orders and the individual needs of customers and suppliers

  • Initiate and maintain customer, supplier and product master files

  • Follow up on the status of orders for sales personnel and monitor distribution of product for customers where necessary.

  • Ensure all business activities comply with relevant Acts, legal demands, ethical standards and Company Procedures.

Key Criteria and skills

  • Tertiary qualified - either in food/logistics or commerce

  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with staff across all levels within the organisation

  • Strong computer skills

  • Great organisational skills

  • Ability to manage and prioritise deadlines

  • Ability to understand profit margins

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Resilience, self motivated, willingness to listen/learn

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Strong customer focus
