About the Role

As the Assistant Category Manager you will be an integral part of the Merchandising Team supporting the Category Manager to ensure we provide to our customers the right product at the right price at the right time. Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to promotional and communication programs and ensure they are implemented accordingly
  • Research and present new product opportunities
  • Negotiating with suppliers to achieve optimum growth and income
  • Provide analytical support and make recommendations to the Category Manager for nominated projects within required deadlines
  • Provide comprehensive post-implementation review data and reports on relevant promotional offers
  • Liaise with all business units and operations to ensure the successful implementation of all tasks and plans
  • Being the central liaision for our branches for your categories
  • Administer all data and processes relating to the category

You will be comfortable liaising with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, but also working autonomously as your Manager is based in Australia

Your experience and history will demonstrate:

  • Previous experience in a Category role OR a graduate with a relevant tertiary qualification
  • Strong organisational skills with the proven ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting demands and achieve deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-starter who is driven to succeed and confident working autonomously 
  • Sound computer skills (MS Office, particularly MS Excel)
  • Results focus and ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
