Person Specifications:

  • Experience in Retail and Customer Service (at least 5 years)
  • Experience in Cash Handling and electronic payment systems
  • Merchandising skills, with a flair for fashion and eye for detail
  • Showroom and layout experience
  • Intermediate Computer skills
  • Experience in tourism retail trade
  • Commitment to Tikanga Maori
  • Knowledge of traditional Maori craftwork, culture and origins
  • Good general knowledge of area
  • Interest in tourism
  • Knowledge of Foreign Cultures
  • Customer Service Orientation: Is courteous, patient, pleasant, and helpful with customers; shows understanding for customers’ concerns; takes actions to accommodate customer needs whenever possible.
  • Sensitivity:  Demonstrates an awareness of others’ concerns, interests and positions, and takes into consideration the impact that decisions and plans are likely to have on them.
  • Stability : Performs stably while under pressure or in a changing work environment
  • Technical Skill/Knowledge: Demonstrates sufficient level of understanding and skill in required technical area.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Assisting the Retail Manager in managing staff rosters and performance management
  • Dealing with external suppliers in a professional manner
  • Ensuring that security measures are actively improved on
  • Maintaining core LEAN principles and practices in the workplace, specifically continuous improvement, 5s and waste reduction processes, and customer centric thinking
  • Creating every opportunity to maximise sales
  • Gaining knowledge about product and related product for upselling
  • Using creative flair to present product
  • Utilising administrative skills for cash and inventory transactions
  • Actively contributing ideas for improving product and price mix
