We are looking for a Baker to join Seed Crackers to help us make our beautiful Gluten Free Handmade Crackers.

Working in our team of bakers in a commercial kitchen at Wairau Park, you’ll be responsible for preparing and baking crackers, and various other activities including the preparation, safety and cleanliness of the kitchen area. Ultimately, you will be tasked with ensuring we offer high quality, delicious Handmade Crackers to our customers every time they purchase our product.

This position is part-time, currently for two days per week. Although other shifts and hours may become available.

Major Areas of Responsibility

• Preparation of  kitchen area and baking equipment before use

• Mixing ingredients

• Rolling and cutting

• Baking using commercial ovens

• Cooling, sorting and putting finished Crackers into storage containers

• Packing up baking equipment and cleaning kitchen area

Main Objectives

• Produce high quality Crackers for our customers

• Practice a high standard of food hygiene

• Promote health and safety in the kitchen working environment

• Contribute to the team culture with positive communication and co-working practices

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role is helpful but definitely not necessary as full training is given

• Understanding of food safety practices

• Good time-management skills and ability to prioritise multiple kitchen tasks

• Willingness to undertake moderate physical activity (lifting of bins of crackers, use of rolling pins, handling of large oven trays and working on your feet)

• Team spirit, with a strong focus on quality

• Must be eligible to work in New Zealand
